Effects of Polluted Water
- Spread of epidemics/disease: Drinking impure water might cause epidemics or contagious diseases like cholera, typhoid infections, or diarrhea.
- Affects on body organs: When anyone consumes polluted water, this can cause injuries to his/her heart as well as kidneys.
- Destruction of the eco food chain: Fatal toxins in water might cause lots of damage to aquatic organisms, and also to the food chain that ensures their existence.
- Birth of algae within water: Did you know that urea and animal manure (or even vegetable peelings) fee algae. Their growth depends a lot on the quantity of waste in the water source. Also various kinds of bacteria feed on the algae. This cuts the level of oxygen within the water. And that results into the extinction of many kinds of species in water.
- Flooding: Soil erosion in waterways can cause floods. This gets worse with heavy amount of rainfall.
- Harmful impacts on other land animals: Birds die while bathing in oil-contaminated water. The chilliness of the water and inactive feather leads them to death. Other animals get affected as they feed on dead fish that are found around contaminated streams.
These are however the immediate harms of water pollution. Nevertheless, some damages emerge as long term perils. They give birth to such calamities that people do not even recognize as the aftermath of water pollution.
